HistoryThe Drake Company was originally founded as Drake Container — a privately held corrugated packaging company—by the late Dan Drake on April 1, 1969. The Company continued to grow, keeping pace with Houston’s packaging industry growth, until the investment team led by John Carrico purchased it in 1992. For the next fifteen years the current owners, John Carrico and Dave Gaidousek, have led the company’s growth to be more competitive, both regionally and nationally. In 1999 the Company developed its in-house pre-press and art department. It launched its first off site division, Drake Pack, in March 2004 to specialize in management of entire packaging/merchandising programs—from receiving and warehousing to fulfillment, distribution and in-store delivery. The Company expanded again in 2006 to offer additional capabilities in blister sealing and developed Lite-Pak™, a new branded product that supports packaging ‘sustainability’ for the environment. |
Today, The Drake Company has come a long way from its corrugated box company beginnings. It has grown into multiple locations in the Houston area, expanded its capabilities to address changing industry needs and streamlined its operations to accommodate speed-to-market. Over 150 full-time personnel are now organized into four separate divisions: Drake Ideas, the creative and structural design division; Drake Container, the original startup company and now the manufacturing division; Drake Pack, which offers clients contract packaging, fulfillment, kitting, assembly and logistics solutions worldwide; and Drake Display, specializing in unique point-of-purchase activation, retail display and signage solutions. Throughout its history The Drake Company’s relationships with their clients has always been that of a partnership, sharing goals and successes. This will never change. |
