CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Job Description

Location: Houston, Texas

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Regular/Temporary: Regular

Job Summary 

The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service background, preferably in the corrugated packaging industry, be able to manage multiple priorities, and have experience interfacing with sales, creative services and production. This candidate will process customer estimates and orders in an efficient and timely manner utilizing company supplied tools and resources.  Duties and tasks can be complex in nature which requires excellent math skills and a high attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Create estimates from design specifications pursuant to customer orders or sales representative’s job specifications and machine limitations.
  • Prepare formal quotes.
  • Work with production for judgment on routing of machines and number of multiple outs on die boards.
  • Track orders through production and communicate order status, any problems, changes, and alterations to plant personnel, sales representatives and customers via e-mail, phone or fax. Confirm delivery dates with customers and Sales.
  • Handle numerous projects and customers one at a time. Possess sensitivity and awareness of customer’s needs. Service customers by solving problems, gathering and transmitting information between customers, sales and production in a professional manner and on a timely basis.
  • Initiate action to prevent problems, document quality problems, contribute solutions to problems, verify implementation of solutions and control further processing when a problem is identified.
  • Track and manage inventory of company and customer owned resources. Keep track of excess stock and report issues.
  • Produce inventory reports for all required elements.
  • Process shipping releases.
  • Communicate specialized billing to Accounts Receivable.

 

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Prepare and maintain complex records and files.
  • Basic math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure and compute rates, ratios, percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, commissions, proportions and volumes. Understands measurements for sizing and reading tape measure.
  • Advanced computer skills including Word and Excel; Experienced in ERP systems.

 

Qualifications

  • Corrugated packaging experience strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years customer service in a manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
